66 Hobart Private Staff to be recognised at this ‘Years of Service’ awards
Hobart Private Hospital is thrilled to announce a celebration of its dedicated, long-serving employees, who have collectively contributed decades of service to the hospital and its community. This year, 66 staff members will receive Years of Service Milestone Awards, acknowledging their unwavering commitment and contributions.
The ceremony's highlight will be the recognition of Mary Jamieson, Hobart Private's Health Information Manager, who will retire after an incredible 45 years of service in January. Starting her career at St Helen's Hospital and witnessing tremendous change within the healthcare industry, Marianne's journey exemplifies the loyalty and dedication that Hobart Private Hospital inspires in its employees.
Reflecting on her career, Mary says, "Looking back over 45 years, it's remarkable how much has changed in healthcare, but one thing has remained constant — our commitment to patient care. I feel honoured to have spent my career at Hobart Private and Healthscope, and it's truly been a second home to me."
In addition to Maryanne's remarkable milestone, the ceremony will celebrate Glenda Howard, Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW) & Injury Management Specialist, for her 30-year tenure. Reflecting on her journey, Glenda shares, "Over three decades, I've had the privilege of supporting our team's wellbeing and safety, which is so integral to our hospital's strength. I'm proud to be part of an organisation that genuinely values its people, and I look forward to continuing to foster a supportive environment for staff and patients alike."
Jennifer Nesbit, Perioperative Manager in the Operating Theatre, will be recognised for her 30 years of dedicated service. Reflecting on her career, Jennifer says, "The journey has been both challenging and rewarding, but Healthscope has consistently provided opportunities and support. Working here has allowed me to grow professionally while being part of a team that truly feels like family. I couldn't imagine working anywhere else."
We’re also celebrating CCU Nurse Rebecca Bailey, who marks 30 years of dedicated service, while Perioperative Surgical Nurse Robyn Smith reaches an extraordinary 35 years. Their unwavering commitment has made a lasting impact on Hobart Private.
The long-term dedication of Hobart Private's staff resonates deeply with General Manager Georgia Banks, who emphasises the alignment between Healthscope's values and the culture of commitment among employees. "At Hobart Private, our SAFE values — We Care, We Do, We Strive, We're a Team — are at the heart of everything we do," Georgia explains. "The fact that so many of our employees choose to stay with us year after year is a testament to these values. They are not just words on a page but principles that our staff live by every single day."
The Long Service Awards ceremony will take place during Hobart Private’s annual Christmas party on November 29th. Recipients will be honoured with award certificates, commemorative pins, and special long service gifts ranging from coffee machines and earbuds to watches and jewellery.
As the hospital celebrates its 25th anniversary of caring for the community on December 13th, we’re proud to employ over 470 Tasmanians and help improve the lives and health of more than 15,000 patients each year. This milestone highlights not only the hospital’s enduring legacy but also the exceptional dedication of our team in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to the Hobart community.
